Christal is a native New Yorker who made Virginia her home after completing her enlistment in the Navy. She has been a dedicated practitioner of yoga since the nineties taking and teaching classes, studying yogic philosophy and Buddhist texts. Christal decided to complete a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in order to achieve certification to pursue a deeper understanding of yogic principles through Asana, breath-work and teaching in the Hampton Roads yoga community. Becoming part of the ZEN ethos has taught Christal in regards to not only instructing and guiding yoga additionally to the intimacy of a dedicated yoga studio with extreme dedication of practitioners of this environment.
Christal currently offers an athletic at times challenging blend of Hatha, Power, Vinyasa, & Yin in her classes hoping to inspire students to deepen their own practice. She focuses on the importance of matching breath with movement to inspire students to take yoga to a higher body-mind connected level. If the seeker permits with continued and dedicated practice yoga is a journey to transform body and mind. Her training & background encourages her to teach various types of yoga as well as individuals ranging from the novice to advanced. Also, guiding underserved groups is a passion as she loves to share her knowledge with those who may not have access to yoga for whatever reason however, like all of us, absolutely need it. She has guided many specialty classes including but not limited to people living in larger bodies and individuals going through transition.
Christal has achieved a Bachelor of Arts of Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies. She holds certification through International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT), is Registered through Yoga Alliance as a 200 E-RYT, 500 RYT and is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Lastly, Christal is a lover of life, animals, friendships and of course yoga. Peace, Love & Light
