Ashely Murphy

YOGA TEACHER

Ashley Murphey is a Virginia Beach native. She has a 500/hr YT from the International Institute of Yoga and a 200/hr YT from Yax Yoga Concepts. She has been practicing yoga for over 20 years.

Ashley currently teaches at Torch Yoga Studio and also teaches meditation, mindfulness, and yoga to at risk youth enrolled in the Achievable Dream Academy. She is a sixth grade teacher for Virginia Beach public schools and loves bringing her yoga practice in the classroom demonstrating patience, self-reflection, and kindness to her students as they navigate this time of growth and change in their lives.

In the past, Ashley has worked as a massage therapist part-time and has taken many workshops in the health and healing field including aromatherapy, rain drop technique, reflexology, and is La Stone certified. Ashley has enjoyed taking weekend yoga workshops over the years from amazing instructors such as Rolf Gates, Jimmy Barkin, Tao Porchon Lynn, Desiree Raumbaugh and others. In the future, Ashley has set her intention to become a Reiki Master and learn more about yoga therapy for victims of trauma as well as yin yoga.

Ashley is a mother to two beautiful children. She adores being with them and nurturing their self-esteem and supporting their active lives and cheering for them at their sporting events. When not with her children or teaching yoga, Ashley enjoys spending time with her fiance and their husky Luna, being outdoors, taking walks, enjoying the beach, cooking, reading, and watching history films or documentaries.
